Wrap Technologies Expands Public Safety Platform Amid Regulatory Shift and New Technology Acquisitions

Wrap Technologies (NASDAQ: WRAP) is building global momentum as it expands its WrapShield Public Safety Platform, driven by a regulatory clarification from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and new technology acquisitions. The company reported approximately $1.2 million in international orders and reaffirmed a target of roughly 100% year-over-year revenue growth in 2026.

The ATF's Ruling 2026-2, effective July 2, 2026, classified the BolaWrap 150 as a federally recognized instrument of restraint rather than a firearm or “any other weapon.” This classification may remove longstanding procurement barriers across law enforcement, corrections, and government markets, helping agencies move from extended evaluations toward department-wide programs. The BolaWrap 150 is a handheld device that deploys a restraint to temporarily subdue individuals without causing injury.

In addition to regulatory progress, Wrap Technologies announced a strategic transaction with Israeli AI sensing company Frenel Imaging Ltd., granting the company exclusive U.S. and NATO distribution rights to Division of Focal Plane (DoFP) polarimetric sensing technology. This technology detects drones by their physical light-scattering signatures rather than radio-frequency emissions, enabling detection even after a drone stops transmitting. Wrap Technologies describes it as the detection layer of its emerging WrapShield platform, addressing the growing threat of unauthorized drones in public safety scenarios.

The company is also advancing its three-part Non-Lethal Response architecture, which includes the BolaWrap 150 (handheld restraint), the Wraptor MX (multi-shot platform), and the developing DFR-X (drone-deployed restraint). The first operational Wraptor MX prototype has been completed, and an early-adopter program is underway. These components share a common operating framework, allowing agencies to integrate multiple non-lethal options into a cohesive response strategy.

According to the company, the goal is to ensure that tense encounters end with everyone going home safely—the person in crisis, the officer responding, and the community watching. By expanding the range of situations its platform addresses, Wrap Technologies aims to provide public safety agencies with effective alternatives to lethal force.
