VOCIC has unveiled the U32 Ultra Lightweight Manual Wheelchair, a foldable, self-propelled chair engineered to simplify everyday mobility for seniors, caregivers, and families. With a 23 lb aluminum frame and a total weight of 35 lb including wheels and leg rests, the U32 aims to provide dependable seated mobility without the bulk and strain often associated with traditional wheelchairs.
For many families, a wheelchair is not just for medical appointments or occasional outings; it becomes an integral part of daily life. Moving between rooms, transferring from bed to chair, loading into a car trunk, navigating narrow hallways, and helping a loved one stay engaged in family routines are all common scenarios. The U32 addresses these needs with a lightweight foldable frame, quick-release rear wheels, adjustable caregiver handles, flip-up armrests, swing-in/out footrests, and a safety-focused braking system.
“Everyday mobility should feel less complicated for both the user and the caregiver,” said Michael, CEO of VOCIC. “The U32 was designed around the real moments families manage every day, from getting through a doorway to transferring beside a bed, loading the chair into a vehicle, or heading out for an appointment.”
Traditional manual wheelchairs can pose challenges in home environments. Heavy frames, bulky folding sizes, obstructive armrests and footrests, poorly positioned push handles, and limited control features often make daily use difficult. The U32 was developed to reduce these frustrations with a design that balances portability, comfort, adjustability, and safety.
At the core of the U32 is a lightweight aluminum frame that weighs just 23 lb, with a total wheelchair weight of 35 lb including leg rests and wheels. This reduced carrying burden is significant for families who frequently move the chair between home, car, clinic, and community spaces. The wheelchair folds to a compact 12.6" x 26.8" size, making storage and transport easier. Quick-release rear wheels add further portability, allowing the wheels to be removed for tighter spaces.
Transfers are a critical aspect of wheelchair use, and the U32 includes flip-up armrests and swing-in/out footrests to create a clearer transfer path. Height-adjustable armrests and footplates allow users to match the chair to their body position. The 17.7" wide by 17" deep seat, paired with a breathable cushion, supports comfort during extended use.
The U32 is designed with caregivers in mind. Rear push handles offer four levels of height adjustment, from about 37" to 40.5"/40.6", accommodating caregivers of different heights. A rear stepper tube helps tilt the wheelchair when navigating small curbs or obstacles. The chair also features both user-operated hand brakes on the main wheels and caregiver-operated handle brakes, giving both sides more control during movement and stopping.
Safety is paramount, and the U32 includes user hand brakes, caregiver handle brakes, rear reflectors for visibility, a safety belt, an anti-tip device, and a reinforced Double-X Base frame for stability. These features support safer everyday use when the wheelchair is properly fitted and operated according to the manual.
The U32 is designed for the places where mobility support is needed most. Its narrow frame, with an overall width below 25.6 inches, helps it navigate standard doorways and tight corridors. It is suitable for moving between rooms, doctor appointments, family visits, car transfers, and indoor navigation.
For seniors and families seeking a manual wheelchair that is easier to fold, carry, adjust, and use in daily routines, the U32 offers a practical balance of lightweight design and everyday support. It reflects VOCIC's commitment to making mobility support fit real homes, real routines, and real family care.
