Vinhomes has unveiled the master plan for Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long, a sprawling 6,200-hectare integrated urban development located beside the UNESCO-listed Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. This project marks a significant shift in urban development philosophy, emphasizing that success is not measured by the sheer size of land developed, but by the value delivered to residents and the environment. As the company's largest urban project to date, it reflects a broader evolution in city-building that prioritizes connectivity, sustainability, and quality of life.

Historically, master-planned communities spanning 2,500 acres or more were considered large-scale, distinguished by their mix of housing, retail, and amenities (1). However, with cities facing challenges like climate change and population growth, the OECD highlights that future urban areas must connect people to jobs and services, strengthen climate resilience, and integrate nature (2). Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long is designed as a fully integrated city, not just a residential complex, combining housing, public services, commerce, and ecological infrastructure in a unified environment. Located along the Hanoi–Hai Phong–Quang Ninh Expressway, it sits at the crossroads of northern Vietnam's tourism, industrial, and logistics corridors.

The project's core principle is an integrated urban ecosystem that shortens distances between living, working, learning, and essential services. Transportation, education, healthcare, and commerce are embedded within a single environment. A key feature is its adjacency to the future depot station of the Hanoi–Quang Ninh high-speed railway, which will connect residents to Hanoi in about 23 minutes, transforming regional mobility. Residents will enjoy views of Ha Long Bay, clean air, and expansive waterfronts. Housing options include villas, townhouses, shophouses, and high-rise apartments across six districts.

Sustainability is a cornerstone, with over 2,500 hectares dedicated to green spaces, water bodies, and mangroves, including 680 hectares of naturally filtered seawater, 200 kilometers of coastline, and the 660-hectare Globe Ha Long Forest Park. These ecological assets support biodiversity and climate resilience, aligning with Vinhomes' ESG++ vision for regenerative development. The city is organized around interconnected ecosystems, featuring a 60,000-seat waterfront venue, the 3,000-seat Wonder Theatre, an 81-hectare VinWonders with the world's largest aquarium park, an international convention center for 4,500 guests, and an 18.5-hectare Vietnamese Cultural and Culinary Village.

Hospitality and leisure include luxury hotels, integrated casino facilities, a 950-hectare golf complex with 12 courses, an 800-hectare mangrove park, and Wonder Marina for direct access to Ha Long Bay. Commerce centers on Vincom Mega Mall and premium outlets, creating a 24-hour retail environment. Sports and wellness are addressed with Vietnam's first Sports District (13.3 hectares), a professional sports academy, and over 50 kilometers of cycling routes. Health and education are provided by the 14-hectare Vinmec Cleveland Clinic International Hospital, Vin New Horizon senior living center, Vinschool campuses, an American international school, and Wonder Young Hub. A new central business district with 30-45 story office towers will anchor the economic future.

Vinhomes Global Gate Ha Long is planned in alignment with ISO 37125, the latest international guidance for sustainable urban development, and incorporates Vingroup's ESG++ approach, which extends beyond environmental protection to include ecological regeneration, resource efficiency, digital governance, and community wellbeing. Smart technologies like AI and IoT will optimize city operations. Guided by principles of connectivity, regeneration, and excellence, the project demonstrates how mobility, environmental stewardship, public services, commerce, and culture can function within a single planning framework, setting a new standard for future urban development.
