Vertical Data's Swedish Data Center Acquisition Advances AI Infrastructure Expansion

Vertical Data Inc. (OTCQB: VDTA), a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company, has entered into a definitive purchase agreement through its majority-owned subsidiary, Vertical Data Nordic AB, to acquire an existing industrial data center site with 4.5 MW of power capacity in Sollefteå Municipality in Central Sweden. The announcement signals a strategic move to bolster the company's presence in the Nordic region and capitalize on the growing demand for AI infrastructure.

If the transaction proceeds, Vertical Data intends to continue pursuing an application for up to 100 MW of total power capacity to build out an AI data center facility. This potential expansion underscores the company's ambition to create a scalable, high-capacity facility capable of supporting intensive AI workloads. The project is part of an active conversion pipeline representing more than 250 MW of global data center opportunities, according to the company.

The acquisition is subject to financing, corporate approvals, applicable regulatory clearances, and other closing conditions, with closing anticipated in the next several weeks. The successful completion of this deal would provide Vertical Data with a physical footprint in Europe, complementing its existing platforms: VerticalData.io for enterprise GPU provisioning and managed infrastructure, GPUfinancing.com for structured financing, and Vertical Edge, which holds equity in data centers the company sources, develops, leases, and manages.

The importance of this announcement lies in its potential to accelerate Vertical Data's growth trajectory and enhance its competitive position in the AI infrastructure market. By securing a site with existing power capacity and the possibility to scale to 100 MW, the company is positioning itself to meet the escalating energy and computing demands of AI applications. The Nordic region is particularly attractive for data centers due to its abundant renewable energy, cool climate, and supportive regulatory environment, which can lead to cost savings and sustainability benefits.

Furthermore, the deal reflects a broader trend of consolidation and expansion in the AI infrastructure sector, where companies are racing to build out the physical and financial scaffolding needed to support next-generation AI models. Vertical Data's integrated approach—combining hardware, financing, and facilities—could offer a compelling value proposition to enterprises seeking turnkey AI solutions. If the acquisition and subsequent expansion are successful, it could serve as a template for similar projects in other regions, reinforcing Vertical Data's role as a key player in the global AI infrastructure landscape.
