Verizon (NYSE, Nasdaq: VZ) today unveiled a sweeping transformation of its consumer offerings, eliminating activation and upgrade fees, launching a new loyalty program, and introducing two streamlined plans: Verizon Simplicity and Verizon One. The moves are designed to reduce complexity and friction for customers, marking a significant shift in the wireless industry's approach to pricing and customer rewards.
In an industry first, all postpaid customers on any phone or connected device plan can opt into Verizon's new loyalty program and avoid activation and upgrade fees—saving up to $40 per device. The opt-in is available through the My Verizon app. Additionally, the loyalty program introduces "Verizon Dollars," which gives customers 3% back monthly on their bills, redeemable for devices, accessories, or up to 5x value at partners including Sephora, Hilton, Marriott, and Starbucks. Another component, "Verizon Shine," offers weekly sweepstakes for once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as tickets to the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final, VIP access to Outside Lands festival, and a trip to the first NFL game in Australia, alongside daily drops of gift cards and merchandise.
Verizon Simplicity is a new plan priced at $45 per line (promotional $30 for switchers) that includes access to Verizon's best 5G network with no tiers, unlimited 5G Ultra Wideband data, 10GB of premium hotspot, roaming in Canada and Mexico, and satellite texting. Customers can add home internet for $35 per month. The plan emphasizes device freedom, allowing customers to keep their own phone, buy new, or choose certified pre-owned devices. Optional bundles cater to specific interests, such as a streaming bundle with Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Netflix, and HBO Max, or a travel bundle with global calling and Travel Pass days.
For new customers, Verizon One combines mobility and home services on a single bill for $70 per month, taxes and fees included, leveraging Verizon's 5G network and its fiber network. The plan is managed entirely through the My Verizon app, aiming for a seamless experience from setup to payment.
Dan Schulman, Verizon CEO, stated, "We're fundamentally reshaping Verizon inside and out to put the customer at the center of everything we do. For too long, this industry has burdened people with complex plans, forced upgrades they don't need, and so-called 'rewards' with tons of caveats." Alfonso Villanueva, Interim CEO of Verizon Consumer Group, added that the changes are about "putting meaningful value back in their pockets, and making it feel easy and intuitive."
The announcement is part of Verizon's multi-year transformation and is expected to be accretive to revenue and EBITDA growth while reducing churn. The company reaffirmed its 2026 financial guidance. For more details, customers can visit verizon.com/loyalty or the Verizon website.
