tZERO Enforces Patents Against Securitize, Highlights Additional IP for Tokenized Markets

tZERO Group, Inc., a pioneer in blockchain-based financial infrastructure since 2014, announced today that it has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Securitize, Inc., alleging infringement of two of its patents. The action is part of an ongoing strategic review of tZERO's intellectual property portfolio, which comprises 105 patents across 23 families. The company also highlighted additional patent families covering technologies essential for tokenized capital markets, including fund creation and redemption, consolidated liquidity, decentralized trade ordering, and transaction privacy.

The cease-and-desist letter, sent today, targets Securitize's DS protocol and Vault Registrar, asserting infringement of U.S. Patent Nos. 11,216,802 (Self-enforcing Security Token Implementing Smart-contract-based Compliance Rules Consulting Smart-contract-based Global Registry of Investors) and 11,394,560 (Crypto integration platform). tZERO is also investigating potential infringement by at least six other market participants in sectors such as regulated RWA and digital asset securities platforms, institutional infrastructure, and decentralized exchanges. The company expects to send demand letters to these parties after completing its analysis.

tZERO's broader portfolio focuses on enabling compliant, scalable, and interoperable tokenized capital markets infrastructure. On April 30, 2026, the company provided an initial update on its portfolio, highlighting 10 patents across five families. Today's announcement builds on that by detailing additional patent families, including technologies for tokenized fund creation and redemption (U.S. Patent Nos. 11,704,733 and 12,469,079), a consolidated order book aggregating liquidity across multiple exchanges (U.S. Patent No. 11,436,673), a decentralized trading system for fair ordering and matching (U.S. Patent No. 10,937,083), and cryptographic techniques for obfuscating transaction intent (U.S. Patent No. 10,552,829).

These technologies reflect tZERO's long-term investment in regulated infrastructure spanning issuance, trading, liquidity aggregation, custody, settlement, and transaction privacy. The company stated that it will remain vigilant in protecting its intellectual property, market position, and shareholders' investment as the tokenization industry scales. tZERO expects to provide further updates on its patent strategy, enforcement, and licensing activities.
