Trollinger Law LLC has announced that nominations are now open for its annual Hometown Heroes Award, an initiative designed to recognize the invaluable contributions of first responders in Charles County and throughout Southern Maryland. The firm, led by personal injury and workers' compensation attorney Matt Trollinger, will accept nominations through the coming weeks, with winners to be announced on Oct. 5, 2026.
The award is open to all local first responders, including paramedics, police officers, firefighters, emergency response teams, public safety providers, emergency hospital facilities and workers, military service members, and other emergency workers. Nominations can be submitted by community members, colleagues, or family members who wish to honor those who consistently go above and beyond in their service.
Each winner will receive a $500 cash prize and four complimentary tickets to a luxury suite at the D.C. United game on October 24, where they will be celebrated alongside other honorees and staff from Trollinger Law. Additionally, the honorees will be recognized on the field during halftime, offering public acknowledgment of their dedication.
Past recipients of the Hometown Heroes Award have included current and retired members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office, the Marine Corps, the Charles County Department of Emergency Medical Services, local police and fire departments, and volunteer rescue squads. This diverse group underscores the broad spectrum of individuals who contribute to public safety and community well-being.
Matt Trollinger, founder of Trollinger Law, emphasized the motivation behind the award: "We started Hometown Heroes as a way to honor a group of people whose efforts to protect and serve others often happen behind the scenes, with no expectation of recognition. First responders help people and families during some of their darkest and most vulnerable hours. We're proud to express our appreciation for their courage and support."
The nomination process is straightforward, and questions can be directed to Dawn Williamson at dawn@trollingerlaw.com. However, the firm encourages all community members to participate in recognizing these everyday heroes. The award not only provides tangible rewards but also serves as a reminder of the critical role first responders play in maintaining the safety and health of the community.
