Mitch Gould, founder and CEO of Nutritional Products International (NPI), has built a distribution platform that transforms how health and wellness brands enter the American market. His success, however, is rooted in a legacy that began with his grandfather, a Brooklyn manufacturer who owned a factory and maintained a showroom in the Empire State Building. That foundation of entrepreneurship was carried forward by his father, Jerry Gould, who expanded into manufacturing and distribution. Growing up in this environment, Gould learned early that retail was not just a business but a family legacy.
Entering the retail industry in 1986, Gould's career was shaped by a pivotal introduction from mentor R.D. Wells, who connected him with Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank during Home Depot's early expansion. This experience gave Gould a front-row seat to the growth of big-box retail. He went on to represent major brands like Igloo, Rubbermaid, Sunbeam, and Miracle-Gro, as well as celebrity lines such as Steven Seagal's Lightning Bolt Energy Drink and Hulk Hogan's Hogan Nutrition. His work secured placements at Walmart, Costco, GNC, CVS, Walgreens, Amazon, and Home Depot.
One of Gould's most significant contributions came through his partnership with Amazon. Recognizing the potential for nutritional supplements online when Amazon was still known as a bookstore, he collaborated with Amazon's buyers to build the sports nutrition and health products category from scratch, eventually growing it to over $100 million in sales. This experience inspired the creation of the Evolution of Distribution® platform.
In 2007, Gould founded NPI and launched the Evolution of Distribution®, a turnkey platform integrating FDA compliance, global logistics, retail introductions, sales, and marketing. What his grandfather achieved with a factory and showroom, and his father expanded through distribution, Gould scaled into a national infrastructure capable of taking a product from concept to store shelves across tens of thousands of retail doors. The platform compresses the typical 18-to-24-month market entry process into a streamlined system.
Gould's story is detailed in his memoir, The Blonde, the Ferrari, and the Kwan: The Quintessential American Success Story, available on Amazon. NPI continues to help domestic and international brands navigate U.S. retail through its proprietary platform, reflecting the efficiency and resourcefulness that have defined the Gould family across three generations.
