GatherGrounds Resorts has acquired The Oaks Campground, a 155-acre property in Munith, Michigan, signaling a new chapter for the outdoor destination. Located adjacent to the Waterloo State Recreation Area, the largest state park in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, the campground offers direct access to extensive natural landscapes. The property is also minutes from Portage Lake's public boat ramp and borders the Haehnle Bird Sanctuary, providing guests with diverse recreational and wildlife-viewing opportunities.
Under the new management, The Oaks Campground will undergo significant enhancements. Plans include revitalizing approximately 120 acres of wooded riding and recreation trails suitable for mountain biking, golf carts, horseback riding, and hiking. The beach area of the on-site swimming lake will be renovated with new lounge chairs and a sand volleyball court, and a Wibit inflatable waterpark is slated for installation, creating a family-friendly attraction. The second lake, dedicated solely to fishing, will retain its multiple docks for anglers.
Existing amenities include an on-site camp store offering firewood, ice, and ice cream, as well as two bathhouses with showers and laundry facilities. GatherGrounds Resorts aims to introduce modern, family-oriented amenities and expand weekend activities with a schedule of community-building events. The company plans to keep guests and the local community informed as development progresses.
Returning campers and new visitors can look forward to these upgrades starting with the 2026 season. For more information, visit GatherGrounds Resorts.
