SS Innovations Demonstrates Transcontinental Robotic Telesurgery at International Conferences

SS Innovations International (NASDAQ: SSII), a developer of surgical robotic technologies, announced that its SSi Mantra surgical robotic system and SSi MantrAsana tele-surgeon console were used in successful telesurgeries during two international medical conferences in October 2026. The demonstrations underscore the growing viability of remote robotic surgery and its potential to bridge gaps in surgical expertise across geographies.

At the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS) Annual Meeting in Barcelona, Spain, Chairman and CEO Dr. Sudhir Srivastava performed a robotic-assisted cardiac procedure remotely on a patient in Bengaluru, India, approximately 7,500 miles away. The feat highlights the SSi MantrAsana console’s design for real-time remote surgery through ultra-low latency connectivity, high-definition visualization, and precise instrument control. Separately, at the Society of Robotic Surgery India (SRS India) Conference in New Delhi, four surgeons completed four separate robotic-assisted telesurgeries involving kidney, colorectal, pediatric urological, and gynecological procedures. These cases demonstrate the system’s versatility across multiple surgical specialties.

The implications of these demonstrations are significant for global healthcare. As of October 23, 2026, a total of 205 telesurgeries, including complex cardiac procedures, had been performed using the SSi Mantra system. This milestone suggests that telesurgery is moving from experimental to practical application, potentially enabling expert surgeons to operate on patients in underserved or remote regions without travel. For patients, this could mean faster access to specialized care and reduced burdens associated with traveling to major medical centers.

SS Innovations International, headquartered in India and a U.S. company, aims to make robotic surgery affordable and accessible to a larger segment of the global population. Its product range includes the SSi Mantra system and the SSi Mudra surgical instruments, which support a variety of procedures including cardiac surgery. The SSi Mantra is a modular, multi-arm system with features such as 3 to 5 robotic arms, an open-faced ergonomic surgeon command center, a large 3D 4K monitor, and the ability to superimpose 3D models of diagnostic imaging. The optional SSi MantrAsana console is a portable, compact alternative to the standard surgeon command center, intended to provide equivalent control functionality while enabling enhanced portability, ergonomic flexibility, and telesurgery capability.

The SSi Mantra utilizes over 40 different types of robotic endo-surgical instruments to support different specialties, including cardiac surgery, and 5mm instruments for the pediatric population and ENT surgeries. A vision cart is designed to provide the table-side team with the same magnified 3D 4K view as the surgeon to provide better safety and efficiency. The system has been clinically validated in India in more than 190 different types of surgical procedures.
