SS Innovations International, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSII) announced the successful completion of a long-distance cross-border telesurgery spanning more than 4,500 miles, from a surgeon in Perth, Australia, to a patient in Indore, India. The procedure, a robotic gastrojejunostomy, was performed on May 2, 2026, by Dr. Mohit Bhandari, President of IRCAD India, during the Royal Australian College of Surgeons Annual Scientific Congress. The surgery utilized the SSi Mantra surgical robotic system and the SSi MantrAsana tele-surgeon console, a compact, chair-based version of the standard surgeon command center designed for portability and telesurgery capability.
The SSi MantrAsana enables real-time remote procedures through ultra-low latency connectivity, high-definition visualization, and precise instrument control. To date, more than 170 telesurgeries, including intricate cardiac procedures, have been performed with the SSi Mantra system. Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Chairman and CEO of SS Innovations, stated, “We believe that telesurgery has the power to transform traditional healthcare delivery and democratize access to global surgical expertise.”
This demonstration highlights the potential of telesurgery to bridge geographical gaps, allowing surgeons to operate on patients thousands of miles away. The SSi Mantra system, with its modular multi-arm design and over 40 types of robotic endo-surgical instruments, has been clinically validated in India for more than 100 different surgical procedures. The company plans to expand the global presence of its cost-effective robotic surgical solutions, aiming to make robotic surgery affordable and accessible worldwide.
