Retired Healthcare Executive Rick Wilton Releases Devotional 'Every Breath' Offering Hope for Life's Unwanted Journeys

In a world where unexpected diagnoses, broken dreams, and seasons of waiting often leave people questioning God's presence, retired healthcare executive Rick Wilton has released a new devotional titled Every Breath. Published by Clay Bridges Press, the book offers a compassionate reminder that God remains faithful even during life's most unwanted journeys.

Wilton, a native West Virginian and graduate of Marshall University, spent his professional career as a healthcare executive before retiring to devote more time to writing, family, and ministry. Drawing from decades of personal experience and his own spiritual journey, Wilton writes with authenticity and transparency, avoiding superficial encouragement in favor of candid discussions about suffering and hope.

'Every one of us will eventually face a journey we never would have chosen,' said Wilton. 'My prayer is that readers will discover they are not walking those roads alone. God is present, He is faithful, and He can use even our hardest seasons to deepen our trust in Him and bring glory to His name.'

The devotional helps readers discover how leaning on God's Word, cultivating a life of prayer, and embracing the support of others can provide strength and courage. Rather than offering easy answers, Every Breath points readers toward the hope found in Christ, inviting them to see how God transforms pain into purpose and uncertainty into deeper dependence on Him.

Wilton's calling to write began more than fifty years ago after a conversation with his tenth-grade English teacher, who told him he had a gift. Although he briefly considered journalism in college, life took him in another direction until he felt inspired by God to write. 'Looking back, I can see God was planting seeds all along,' he said.

When creativity stalls, Wilton relies on what he calls 'mental health and prayer walks.' He explained, 'Every time I step away and spend time with the Lord, He faithfully meets me there.' For aspiring writers, he offers simple advice: 'Do the work. Follow the prompting of your heart and the Holy Spirit. Write every day. You never know how God may use your words to encourage someone else.'

A native West Virginian, Wilton has been married to his wife, Sandy, for more than forty years, and treasures his role as a husband, father to two sons and two daughters-in-love, and grandfather to six grandchildren. When not writing, he enjoys walking or hiking scenic trails, relaxing at the beach or mountain camp, and trout fishing.
