Quantum BioPharma's MS Imaging Study Shows Promise at Halfway Point

Quantum BioPharma (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) has reached the halfway point in patient enrollment for its pilot multiple sclerosis (MS) imaging study conducted with Massachusetts General Hospital. Preliminary PET imaging data from the study are showing encouraging signals in acute MS lesions, according to a recent article. This novel imaging technique is designed to distinguish demyelinated nerve fibers that may still be viable from permanent nerve damage, potentially offering a more precise way to measure myelin loss and repair.

The findings are directly relevant to Lucid-MS, the company's investigational compound designed to inhibit demyelination by targeting the enzyme PAD2, which is implicated in myelin degradation. The article notes that a more precise imaging tool and a drug candidate designed to address the underlying cause of MS make for a compelling combination. Reaching the enrollment midpoint with promising early data suggests the science is holding up under real clinical conditions.

The importance of this study lies in its potential to transform how MS progression is monitored and treated. Current imaging techniques often fail to distinguish between reversible demyelination and permanent axonal damage, which limits the ability to assess treatment efficacy and disease progression. If validated, this imaging method could become a critical tool in clinical trials and patient care, enabling more accurate evaluation of neuroprotective and remyelinating therapies.

Quantum BioPharma is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to building a portfolio of innovative assets and biotech solutions for the treatment of challenging neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders and alcohol misuse disorders. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Lucid Psycheceuticals Inc. ('Lucid'), Quantum BioPharma is focused on the research and development of its lead compound, Lucid-MS. Lucid-MS is a patented new chemical entity shown to prevent and reverse myelin degradation, the underlying mechanism of multiple sclerosis, in preclinical models.

The company also invented unbuzzd and spun out its OTC version to Unbuzzd Wellness Inc. ('UWI'), led by industry veterans. Quantum BioPharma retains ownership of 19.84% (as of March 31, 2026) of UWI at www.unbuzzd.com. The agreement with UWI also includes royalty payments of 7% of sales from unbuzzd(TM) until payments to Quantum BioPharma total $250 million. Once $250 million is reached, the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity. Quantum BioPharma retains 100% of the rights to develop similar product or alternative formulations specifically for pharmaceutical and medical uses.
