PFISTERER Invests $2.7 Million in Rochester Facility to Triple SICON Connector Production for U.S. Data Center Market

PFISTERER is significantly expanding its U.S. manufacturing footprint with a $2.7 million investment in its Rochester, New York facility. The investment will add three CNC lathes, tooling, and related production equipment, enabling the company to increase production capacity for SICON shearbolt connector components by two and a half times. This move underscores the company's commitment to the North American market and positions Rochester as a key hub in its global production network.

The expansion comes as more than half of PFISTERER's SICON connectors are now sold in the United States. By localizing production, the company aims to meet this demand directly from its U.S. plant, enhancing delivery capacity, flexibility, and resilience in a critical growth market. This shift aligns with PFISTERER's "Local-for-Local" approach, which prioritizes manufacturing products in the regions where they are consumed, thereby shortening delivery times, improving responsiveness to customer needs, and reducing transportation-related emissions.

SICON is PFISTERER's shearbolt cable connection system designed for secure electrical and mechanical connections. It is compatible with a variety of conductor materials, cable types, and cross-sections. The connectors are electrically and mechanically type-tested in accordance with IEC 61238-1, Class A, and have also been tested to the North American standard ANSI C119.4. Notably, SICON connectors are the only ones that meet the Class 2 requirements of this standard, making them particularly relevant for power infrastructure expansion, especially for supplying data centers.

The rapid proliferation of data centers in the U.S. and globally is driving increased demand for SICON connectors. These facilities require high-performance, exceptionally reliable connections to the power grid to ensure a secure and scalable power supply. PFISTERER's investment in Rochester directly addresses this need, further strengthening its position in the high-growth data center market.

Johannes Linden, member and spokesperson of the Executive Board of PFISTERER Holding SE, commented, "With the expansion of our production in Rochester, we are taking an important step in our growth strategy for the U.S. market. We manufacture where our products are needed, thereby strengthening our local presence and enabling us to supply our customers more quickly and flexibly. The investment not only significantly increases our production capacity but also creates additional qualified jobs at the site."
