MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) has moved its commercial validation drilling program forward at the Lawson Complex in Saskatchewan, announcing the initiation of the Lawson 3 well after successfully casing Lawson 2. This step is part of a systematic effort to evaluate the scale and continuity of what the company believes could become the world's first large-scale commercial natural hydrogen system.
The Lawson 3 well is positioned approximately 2.2 kilometers east of Lawson 2 and 1.2 kilometers south of the original Lawson 1 discovery. This triangulation approach is designed to enhance geological modeling being conducted by GLJ Ltd., with the goal of better understanding the subsurface architecture of the hydrogen-bearing formation. Data from the first two wells will be integrated to determine the optimal location for Lawson 4, which is planned for completion testing and potentially as a production well.
The significance of this program lies in the promising results from Lawson 2, which recorded approximately 860 meters of continuous natural hydrogen readings, the strongest measurements to date at the project. The well also confirmed an extensive fracture system and favorable source rocks, reaching a total depth of 2,440 meters and recovering 120 meters of core, including a record 89.2 meters from the Precambrian basement complex for a single Saskatchewan well. These findings support the presence of a substantial natural hydrogen resource, which could have major implications for the clean energy sector.
Natural hydrogen, also known as white or gold hydrogen, is generated naturally in the earth's subsurface and is considered a promising zero-carbon energy source. If commercially developed, the Lawson project could provide a new, continuous supply of clean fuel, contributing to global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The company's broader land package spans 1,852 square kilometers across the Lawson and Aurora projects, offering significant upside potential.
