LIXTE Biotechnology Holdings (NASDAQ: LIXT) is sponsoring the inaugural Good Health: Mind, Body & Soul Summit, an invitation-only event scheduled for Feb. 19 at Morehouse College in Atlanta. The Summit, inspired by the music and legacy of De La Soul, brings together leaders in health, culture, science, and community to advance health equity for Black men and families. Rooted in De La Soul’s song “Good Health,” written after the passing of founding member David Jolicoeur (Trugoy the Dove), the program reflects the group’s evolution from musical pioneers to wellness advocates.
Developed in collaboration with Blacksmith Holdings, the Summit will feature discussions spanning cancer, heart disease, mental health, addiction, sleep, relationships, and intergenerational wellness. LIXTE stated that the Summit aligns with its mission as a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company advancing cancer care through its first-in-class oncology compound LB-100 and its European research subsidiary, LIORA, while creating a space to connect scientific innovation with communities most impacted by health disparities.
LIXTE’s lead compound, LB-100, is a PP2A inhibitor that has shown promise in preclinical and clinical studies. According to the company, LB-100 is well-tolerated in cancer patients at doses associated with anti-cancer activity and has the potential to significantly enhance chemotherapies and immunotherapies. Proof-of-concept clinical trials are currently in progress for Ovarian Clear Cell Carcinoma and Metastatic Colon Cancer. More information on the science behind LB-100 can be found at www.lixte.com.
The sponsorship of the Good Health Summit represents a strategic effort by LIXTE to bridge its oncology research with community health equity. By partnering with cultural icons like De La Soul and institutions like Morehouse College, LIXTE aims to raise awareness about cancer disparities and the importance of clinical trial participation among underrepresented populations. The Summit’s focus on holistic wellness—addressing mind, body, and soul—reflects a comprehensive approach to health that resonates with communities facing disproportionate burdens of disease.
The event underscores a growing trend among biotechnology companies to engage directly with communities affected by the diseases they target. For LIXTE, this initiative not only promotes its pipeline but also positions the company as a socially responsible entity committed to addressing health inequities. As LIXTE continues to advance LB-100 through clinical trials, the Good Health Summit serves as a platform to highlight the intersection of science, culture, and community action. The company’s efforts to connect with historically underserved populations may help accelerate the development of effective cancer therapies while fostering trust and collaboration between researchers and the communities they serve.
