Hong Kong is hosting the 108th Lions International Convention from July 3 to 7, 2026, at AsiaWorld-Expo, with the support of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB). This marks the third time Hong Kong has been chosen by Lions Clubs International for its flagship event, previously held in 1992 and 2005. The convention attracts around 17,000 delegates from across the globe, making Hong Kong one of the few cities among more than 200 Lions member countries and regions to have secured hosting rights three times. This achievement reinforces Hong Kong's status as the Events Capital of Asia and the World's Meeting Place, highlighting its integrated strengths in MICE infrastructure, global aviation connectivity, diverse tourism offerings, and quality hospitality services.
HKTB Chairman Dr. Peter Lam expressed delight in partnering with Lions Clubs International District 303 Hong Kong and Macao, China, to bring the convention to Hong Kong for the third time. He noted that the return affirms Hong Kong's position as a top-of-mind destination for MICE tourism and showcases the city's ability to attract international events. Dr. Lam extended a warm welcome to Lions from around the world, adding that HKTB has curated exclusive itineraries and experiences to encourage delegates to stay longer and discover Hong Kong's unique appeal.
Lions Clubs International is one of the world's largest service organizations, with more than 1.4 million members and around 50,000 district clubs across over 200 countries and regions. Since 1917, the organization has supported communities worldwide through social service and community aid initiatives. Lions International Convention 2026 Honorary Chairman and Past International President Dr. Tam Wing-kun highlighted Hong Kong's role as an international metropolis where Eastern and Western cultures converge. He emphasized that the city's well-developed professional services and comprehensive MICE infrastructure make it an ideal host for this mega event. Dr. Tam expressed confidence that delegates will experience Hong Kong's world-class cuisine and cultural appeal, becoming ambassadors who share Hong Kong's stories with the world.
To celebrate the convention's return, the organizer will attempt to set a world record with thousands of international Lions practicing Tai Chi simultaneously. This activity promotes exercise for all and deepens understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals, creating a meaningful finale to the convention. HKTB has teamed up with the local travel trade and major attractions to offer exclusive tourism itineraries, including transport offers, attraction tickets, shopping mall discounts, gift redemptions, and theme park deals. These incentives encourage delegates to stay in Hong Kong after the convention and explore the city's diverse culture, cuisine, and unique tourism appeal.
