The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) has reinforced its position as a leading global venue after hosting 786 events during the 2025–2026 financial year, including 25 new exhibitions and conferences that featured several Hong Kong and Asian debuts. The venue attracted more than 7.7 million attendees, according to an announcement distributed via Media OutReach Newswire. The results highlight Hong Kong's growing appeal as a two-way platform connecting Mainland China with international markets and underscore the economic value of the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) sector to the city.
The new events span four strategic sectors—Medical, Innovation and Technology, Finance, and Education—where HKCEC management has focused its business development. Among the standout debuts, the inaugural Hong Kong Comic Con 2026 achieved what organizers describe as unprecedented success, generating substantial economic value and business opportunities. The event has already confirmed its return to the HKCEC in 2027, signaling confidence in Hong Kong as a launchpad for major international intellectual properties. In the medical field, the 9th World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery drew more than 3,000 global participants, while the 15th China Chest Pain Centers Congress marked the first time that national medical association convention was held in Hong Kong. These gatherings reinforce the city's standing as a health and medical innovation hub and demonstrate the HKCEC's role in showcasing national healthcare standards while supporting Mainland enterprises' global expansion.
Asia's flagship events have also reaffirmed their long-term commitment to Hong Kong. Art Basel Hong Kong, held annually at the HKCEC since 2013, has reached an agreement with the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau to designate the city as its sole Asian venue for the next four years. Meanwhile, Vinexpo Asia, a premier wine and spirits trade event since 1998, will end its rotation with Singapore and make Hong Kong its home starting in 2027. These decisions matter because they lock in high-value, recurring international events that bring business travelers, exhibitors, and buyers to the city year after year.
Looking ahead, the HKCEC will host several new additions, including the inaugural LEAP East in July, the inaugural Global Unicorn Summit in August, the World Cancer Congress 2026 in September, and the Amazing Toy Show Hong Kong 2026 in December. Ms Monica Lee-Müller, Managing Director of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited, said the venue leverages Hong Kong's unique advantage as a gateway between Mainland China and the rest of the world, aligning its focus on key sectors to secure landmark debuts. She noted that the inaugural events have already confirmed their return next year. For event organizers and industry watchers, the pipeline of confirmed and returning events provides a stable forecast for Hong Kong's exhibition economy. The continued influx of global events not only enriches Hong Kong's cultural and business landscape but also cements its status as a leading convention and exhibition hub, with direct implications for tourism, retail, and professional services across the region.
