Gerresheimer Publishes First Voluntary CSDR-Aligned Sustainability Report, Reports 31% CO2e Reduction

Gerresheimer, a systems and solutions provider for the pharma, biotech, and cosmetics industries, has released its first voluntary separate Non-financial Report for the 2025 financial year, aligned with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). The audited report details the Group’s sustainability performance, including a 31% reduction in scope 1 and scope 2 CO2e emissions compared to the 2019 base year, an increase in the share of electricity from renewable sources to 54% of total consumption, and a 63% improvement in the lost time incident rate (LTIR). The company has also raised its CO2e reduction target for scope 1 and scope 2 emissions to -52% by 2030 and introduced scope 3 targets, all externally validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).

“Despite a very challenging financial year in 2025, we significantly improved key sustainability metrics and, for the first time, reported on our sustainability performance in alignment with the CSRD,” said Wolf Lehmann, CFO of Gerresheimer AG. “Our goal is to support our customers on their path toward increased sustainability. This includes not only sustainable product options but also transparent reporting.”

Gerresheimer has been independently assessed by EcoVadis since 2011. In 2025, it received a Gold rating with a score of 78 out of 100, placing it among the top 4% of all evaluated companies and the top 1% in its industry. EcoVadis evaluates management systems in environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement, covering over 150,000 companies annually.

In the 2025 CDP rating, Gerresheimer achieved an “A-” in the climate category and “Leadership” status for the second consecutive year, ranking above the global average (B) and industry average (C). More than 22,100 companies participated in the CDP rating, which is a benchmark for CO2e disclosure and management.

The company’s SBTi-validated targets include a 52% reduction in scope 1 and scope 2 emissions by 2030 from a 2019 base year, requiring 65% of suppliers by spend to set science-based climate targets by end of 2029, and a 64% reduction in emissions intensity relative to operating profit in selected scope 3 categories by 2034 from a 2023 base year.
