FWD Group Holdings Limited (FWD Group) commemorated its 13th anniversary by unveiling a series of charitable grants designed to uplift over 13,000 individuals across Asia. The announcement underscores the company's dedication to fostering positive social impact in the regions where it operates, aligning with its mission to transform the life insurance industry.
Founded in 2013, FWD Group has expanded from its initial operations in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Thailand into a prominent pan-Asian life and health insurer serving millions of customers across 10 markets. A significant milestone was achieved in July last year when the company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under the stock code 1828, marking a new chapter in its growth trajectory.
Huynh Thanh Phong, Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of FWD Group, emphasized the broader purpose behind the initiative: "At FWD Group, changing the way people feel about insurance is about much more than looking after our customers – it’s also about supporting the communities where we operate. These 13 grants are a meaningful way to give back to the people and places that have been part of our journey. Together with trusted community partners, we hope to make a real difference in people’s lives, while also bringing our caring value to life through employee volunteering."
The 13 grants will address key areas including financial literacy, career readiness, entrepreneurship, health and wellbeing, and community recovery. In Hong Kong SAR, the JA SparktheDream Wellness Programme with Junior Achievement Hong Kong will extend interactive workshops and family activities to 2,600 primary school students, equipping them with social, emotional, and financial skills. Additionally, a football-based programme with Save the Children Hong Kong will support 200 children and 80 caregivers affected by the Tai Po fire, while Plan International Hong Kong will lead psychosocial support and community-building initiatives for over 6,500 students, parents, and teachers in Tai Po.
In Cambodia, JCI Mekong will provide financial education workshops to 200 young people, enhancing their money management skills. Japan’s Hands On Tokyo will conduct football clinics for over 15 visually impaired individuals to promote inclusion and wellbeing. In Malaysia, GivingHub will support 170 low-income families with health education and financial literacy workshops, along with 100 cancer screening sessions. The Philippines' Junior Achievement will help 100 university students transition into the workforce with career readiness and financial literacy training. Club Rainbow (Singapore) will organize a carnival experience for 50 children with chronic illnesses and their caregivers, fostering community spirit.
Thailand’s Pimali Foundation will extend hospitality training scholarships to seven disadvantaged youth, while Junior Achievement Thailand will train 30 educators to deliver financial literacy education. Vietnam’s Startup Vietnam Foundation and Dear Our Community will empower 800 students through workshops and debate competitions, and Little Roses Foundation will provide 76 computers to schools in Khanh Hoa Province, enabling 1,800 students to continue learning after severe flooding.
These initiatives reflect FWD Group's ongoing commitment to creating lasting value for the communities it serves, embodying its vision of changing the way people feel about insurance through actions that go beyond business. For more information about FWD Group, visit www.fwd.com.
