Frank Giustra's New Memoir Examines the True Meaning of Wealth Beyond Financial Success

Renowned Canadian entrepreneur Frank Giustra is set to release a candid memoir, The Money Dilemma: My Unlikely Path to Wealth, Philanthropy, and Peace, on November 3, 2026, through Page Two. The book explores his evolution from a high-stakes financier to a global philanthropic leader, addressing the deeper meaning of wealth and the pursuit of contentment beyond financial success.

Giustra, who reached the pinnacle of business success by age 39, building major gold companies and founding Lionsgate, the largest independent movie studio in Hollywood, realized that wealth alone did not bring fulfillment. The memoir chronicles his transition from accumulating riches to finding purpose through helping others, a shift that led to a level of contentment no amount of money could buy.

"Money in itself is worthless. It's what you do with it," says Pierre Lassonde, O.C., G.O.Q., Mining Entrepreneur and Philanthropist, in praise of the book. Chef José Andrés, founder of World Central Kitchen, adds, "The world needs more people like Frank Giustra. He knows that real change requires more than generosity alone; it requires listening, showing up, and standing beside communities in moments that matter most."

Giustra's commitment to alleviating poverty has driven him to donate over $250 million to humanitarian initiatives. Central to his efforts is Acceso, the social business builder he launched in 2007 to combat poverty through entrepreneurial solutions, particularly agribusiness ventures in Colombia, El Salvador, Haiti, and Guatemala. Through Acceso and the Giustra Foundation, he has advanced sustainable solutions to food insecurity, youth education, support for children and families, community development, and refugee resettlement.

The memoir implicitly challenges the ultra-rich to rethink the meaning and potential of their wealth. Giustra, a Member of the Order of Canada and inductee of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, has served as a longtime Trustee and former Co-Chair of the International Crisis Group, and received the inaugural Dalai Lama Humanitarian Award. Through his philanthropic work, initially alongside President Bill Clinton and now through his own initiatives, Giustra has focused on creating lasting and measurable impact in areas such as women and children, poverty alleviation, food security, education, and homelessness.

The Money Dilemma offers a candid, entertaining, and moving account of Giustra's life, turning from getting to giving, consumption to compassion, and from fame and fortune to friends and family. The book is a testament to his belief that true peace comes not from accumulating wealth, but from using it to create a more equitable world for future generations.
