The Flood Law Firm, in partnership with Middlesex United Way, spearheaded a countywide food drive on August 5 that collected an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 pounds of food for 13 food pantries and food banks across Middlesex County. The initiative, named "Flood the Food Banks," was part of the Middlesex Pantry Project, an ongoing effort to ensure year-round access to nutritious food for residents in need.
Residents contributed a variety of non-perishable staples, including canned vegetables, soup, pasta, rice, peanut butter, cereal, shelf-stable milk, canned tuna and chicken, and macaroni and cheese. Collection points were set up at participating grocery stores and community locations throughout the county. In addition to the main collection, two smaller direct drop-offs were made to local pantries.
The drive emphasized the importance of sustaining food donations throughout the year, as pantry demand does not wane after the holidays. By coordinating a summer collection, organizers aimed to replenish supplies and support families who rely on these services continuously. Brian Flood, a partner at The Flood Law Firm, noted, "Giving back to the communities where we live, work, and serve our clients is an important part of who we are. Flood the Food Banks brought our team together with Middlesex United Way and community members for a meaningful effort that will help support families and individuals throughout Middlesex County."
The event also received local media coverage, including reporting from WTNH and a sponsored feature that highlighted the partnership. The Flood Law Firm served as the presenting partner, helping raise awareness and encouraging participation. Firm members volunteered at the event, interacting with residents and contributing directly to organizations combating food insecurity.
The success of the drive underscores the power of community collaboration in addressing local challenges. The collected food and financial contributions will bolster the resources of pantries serving Middlesex County residents, ensuring they can continue to meet the needs of their communities. The Flood Law Firm, founded in 2012 by brothers Brian and Chris Flood, is a Connecticut personal injury law firm known for its trial experience and advocacy for clients. This initiative reflects the firm's commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.
