The Entertainment Expo Hong Kong 2026 will take place from March 15 to April 19, uniting eight flagship events across film, television, music, and digital entertainment. Spearheaded by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) with sponsorship from the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) and the Film Development Fund, the Expo serves as a vital platform connecting global industry leaders. This year, the Expo has invited Leon Lai as Hong Kong Entertainment Ambassador to promote the city as a leading hub for film and entertainment in Asia.
The Expo's eight major events include the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART), Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA), Asian Film Awards, Digital Entertainment Summit, EntertainmentPulse, Hong Kong - Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), and the Microfilm Production Support Scheme (Music). The kick-off ceremony will be held on March 17 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, marking the 30th edition of FILMART and the 50th edition of HKIFF.
FILMART, running from March 17 to 20, will feature over 790 exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions, including first-time participants from emerging markets. The event will host Producers Connect, showcasing over 100 global producers and featuring a keynote forum with director Peter Chan and producer Janet Yang. The AI Hub will expand with leading companies like Alibaba Cloud, Kling AI, MiniMax, and Vidu, alongside local academic institutions. The newly launched AI Academy will host over 15 workshops on AI tools for film production.
The 50th HKIFF, from April 1 to 12, adopts the theme "50 and Beyond: Framing the Future." Actors Angela Yuen and Tony Wu serve as ambassadors, while Gingle Wang and Metawin Opas-iamkajorn are Asian Visionary Ambassadors. A special exhibition at Hong Kong City Hall will showcase the festival's history, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra will present the Asian premiere of "In the Mood for Love in Concert."
The 44th Hong Kong Film Awards on April 19 will feature Michelle Wai and Edan Lui announcing nominations. "Sons of the Neon Night" leads with 12 nominations, followed by "Back to the Past" with 11. The 19th Asian Film Awards on March 15 will host masterclasses with Zhang Ziyi, Jia Zhangke, and Hwang Dong-hyuk.
The Digital Entertainment Summit on March 19 will explore animation IP expansion globally, with speakers from Warner Bros. Discovery and France's CNC. EntertainmentPulse, held concurrently with FILMART, will feature sessions on AI, streaming, and micro-short dramas, with leaders from Warner Bros. Discovery and Vision+. The 24th HAF will showcase 42 shortlisted projects from 22 countries, and the Microfilm Production Support Scheme will award production funding for original microfilms.
