El Tesoro, a popular Mexican restaurant in Atlanta, has announced plans to open an 8,600-square-foot restaurant at the Lee + White development in the West End. The new location, set to open in March 2026, will occupy the 1036 Building previously home to Best End Brewing. This expansion marks El Tesoro's third full-service restaurant in Atlanta, joining its original Edgewood location and a forthcoming 3,640-square-foot outpost in South Downtown scheduled for spring 2026.
The new space will feature all of El Tesoro's family recipe favorites, including tacos, burritos, tamales and mulitas, along with its renowned fresh juice margaritas and deep mezcal program. A large bar, indoor and outdoor seating, and big-screen TVs for sporting events will create a gathering place for the West End neighborhood. Owner Alan Raines noted the expansion allows flexibility to host meetings, events, and even weddings in the future.
Marisa Roy and Patrick Green of Ackerman Retail represented owners Ackerman & Co. and MDH Partners in the lease transaction. Leo Wiener, President of Ackerman Retail, expressed enthusiasm for El Tesoro's growth, stating it brings more energy to the development. In related news, Wild Heaven Beer will replace El Tesoro's previous spot within its tap room with Eats, a popular meat-and-three restaurant that closed its Ponce de Leon location in October. Wild Heaven has purchased the Eats brand and also targets a March opening.
The 442,562-square-foot Lee + White development, acquired by Ackerman & Co. and MDH Partners in 2019, is an adaptive reuse of the West End's former warehouse row, featuring half a mile of Atlanta BeltLine frontage and four direct entrances. The latest phase added a food hall, creative office space, healthcare providers, trade schools, new retail, and the "Great Lawn" central gathering space. The development is accessible via the West End MARTA station and interstates, with a planned MARTA station at Murphy Crossing a short walk away.
Lee + White currently hosts 16 eateries and the Strangers in Paradise central bar, including concepts like Cielito Lindo, Costa Coffee, Dough Boy Pizza, and Vietvana. For more information, visit Lee + White's website.
