The Church of Scientology Los Angeles opened its doors to the East Hollywood community on Tuesday evening for a National Night Out celebration, joining thousands of communities across the nation in an annual effort to foster safer, more connected neighborhoods. The event drew residents of all ages for an afternoon of family-friendly activities, including carnival games, a bouncy house, face painting, a water slide, and treats like popcorn and cotton candy.
National Night Out, a nationwide initiative supported by approximately 16,000 communities, aims to enhance relationships between residents and first responders, encourage community involvement, and build camaraderie. The Church's celebration began with the singing of the National Anthem and included a special recognition of firefighters from Los Angeles Fire Department Station 35, who were presented with a Certificate of Recognition for their dedication and service.
"National Night Out is a reminder that strong communities are built through cooperation, mutual support and shared responsibility," said a representative of the Church of Scientology Los Angeles. "Bringing families, neighbors and community organizations together helps create the kind of environment where people feel connected, supported and empowered to improve conditions in their community."
The event provided an opportunity for neighbors to meet one another and strengthen ties, reflecting the core purpose of National Night Out: building trust and promoting a sense of pride in one's community. The Church, located at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and L. Ron Hubbard Way, serves as a community hub throughout the year, hosting events such as Easter, the Fourth of July, Halloween, Día de los Muertos, the Holiday Lights Lighting Ceremony, and the popular Candy Cane Lane on the weekend before Christmas. It also organizes cultural fairs, open houses, and community forums addressing social issues affecting the Los Angeles area.
The Church of Scientology Los Angeles is featured in Inside a Church of Scientology on the Scientology Network, which was launched in 2018 by ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige to commemorate L. Ron Hubbard's birthday. As an Ideal Scientology Organization, the Church is designed not only to serve Scientologists but also to function as a community resource, a meeting place where people of all faiths can collaborate on initiatives that benefit the greater Los Angeles area.
