The Atlanta Community Food Bank announced a $400,000 donation from Ciara Wilson, Russell Wilson, and their Why Not You Foundation to support food distribution efforts across metro Atlanta and North Georgia. The contribution will help strengthen the Food Bank's capacity to source, store, and distribute nutritious food to partner agencies serving children, families, and seniors throughout the region.
“I want to express our deepest gratitude, on behalf of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, to Ciara Wilson and Russell Wilson and their Why Not You Foundation for their extraordinary $400,000 donation today,” said Kyle Waide, President and CEO of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. “This gift comes at a time of unprecedented need. Food insecurity is spiking across our region, with demand for our services now 70% higher than it was just three and a half years ago. Families across Atlanta are struggling with the relentless pressure of rising costs, and they need our collective help more than ever before.”
The donation will enable the Food Bank to expand its operations, ensuring that more nutritious meals reach those in need. The Food Bank works with over 700 community-based partners across 29 counties, distributing millions of meals annually. In 2023, the organization distributed its one billionth meal. The support from the Wilsons and their foundation comes at a critical time, as many families face the dual challenges of inflation and reduced access to affordable food.
The Why Not You Foundation, founded by Ciara and Russell Wilson, is dedicated to empowering youth and supporting communities. This donation underscores their commitment to addressing food insecurity, a growing issue in many urban areas. The foundation encourages others in the community to join the fight against hunger by donating or volunteering. “This support will make a meaningful and immediate difference for children, families, and seniors throughout metro Atlanta and North Georgia,” Waide added.
The Atlanta Community Food Bank continues to urge those able to give to support its mission. Donations of any size help provide nutritious food to families struggling to keep meals on the table. For more information on how to get involved, visit ACFB.org.
