The "Charm'tastic Mile" of Baltimore (CTMB-1.3), a 1.3-mile corridor connecting Downtown-West, the Inner Harbor, and Harbor East, is pursuing a 100-year agreement with the City of Baltimore and Mayor Brandon Scott. The landmark corridor, listed among Google's Top 10-15 Most Famous Streets in America, aims to finalize the agreement during the 2026 calendar year.
This past April 25 marked the 10th anniversary of the Charm'tastic Mile's introduction to Charm City (2016-26). It remains the only USPTO (www.uspto.gov) registered trademark street in Baltimore and the State of Maryland. Both Mayor Brandon Scott and Governor Wes Moore issued honors—a Certificate of Recognition and Governor's Citation, respectively—to commemorate the milestone.
The Charm'tastic Mile shares its introduction date of April 25 with the iconic Domino Sugars neon sign, which debuted 65 years earlier in 1951. In October 2025, the corridor gained further prominence when it was highly featured in the Baltimore edition of MONOPOLY, announced at the Power Plant launch party. Its marquee placement on the game board's Chance cards highlighted the trademark, licensed by Hasbro Games.
The proposed 100-year agreement aims to solidify the Charm'tastic Mile as one of the most famous and iconic streets in America, particularly as Baltimore moves forward with its nearly $1 billion Inner Harbor construction project. When fully completed in 2030, the Inner Harbor project is expected to benefit from the corridor's established identity. The Charm'tastic Mile, published as a USPTO trademark on September 15, 2020, joined the ranks of the Magnificent Mile, Rodeo Drive, and the Vegas Strip as a registered mark.
The agreement will ensure that ownership of the Charm'tastic Mile, its iconic logo, and street signs remain in Baltimore forever. This initiative comes as the city prepares for the USA 250th celebrations and the upcoming 105th birthday of former Mayor William Donald Schaefer on November 2, who coined the term "Charm City" in 1975.
As the popularity of famous streets and sports culture in America continues to grow, USPTO trademark streets and other famed corridors worldwide are expected to become larger brands in the global economy. The Charm'tastic Mile positions itself as a major catalyst and engine behind this trend.
