Brenmiller Energy Ltd. (NASDAQ: BNRG) is positioning itself to capitalize on the growing demand for greener industrial heat, a sector responsible for approximately 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions—more than all the world's cars, planes and ships combined. The Israel-based thermal energy storage (TES) provider aims to disrupt the industrial heat market with its bGen platform, which uses crushed volcanic rock to store renewable electricity as high-temperature heat and release it on demand as zero-emission steam, hot water or air.

The company recently introduced BNRG360, an energy-as-a-service model that eliminates upfront costs for customers. Under this model, Brenmiller develops, owns and operates integrated clean energy systems, allowing industrial customers to adopt TES without significant capital investment. This strategic shift from equipment supplier to integrated energy infrastructure company is designed to generate recurring revenues and deepen customer relationships through long-term service agreements.

The need for TES is expected to grow into a multi-billion-dollar industry, driven by rising electricity consumption, industrial electrification, grid modernization and increasing renewable energy penetration. Forecasts project the TES market to grow at a CAGR of 10% through 2032, reaching nearly $14 billion. Additionally, the expansion of AI and data centers is placing further demands on electrical infrastructure, underscoring the need for flexible energy systems.

Brenmiller is proving its technology in real-world applications, notably with Tempo Beverages Ltd. The 32-megawatt-hour TES installation is designed to fully replace the site's fossil fuel boiler-based heat production and is expected to eliminate approximately 6,200 tons of CO₂ emissions annually. The system began delivering steam power in June, serving as a commercial reference installation and blueprint for future industrial decarbonization projects.

Looking ahead, Brenmiller said its focus is on growth, boosting cash flow and achieving sustainable profitability. With more customers expected to join the BNRG360 platform and additional project commissionings on the horizon, the company is confident in its ability to meet these milestones. As industrial markets seek alternative energy sources, Brenmiller's thermal energy storage technology offers a promising path to decarbonization.
