Boerne Named Finalist in Hallmark Channel's Merriest Christmas Town Contest

The city of Boerne, Texas, has been named a finalist in Hallmark Channel's 2026 Merriest Christmas Town contest, joining 24 other communities nationwide. This marks Boerne as the only Texas community selected among this year's finalists, a recognition that underscores the city's festive spirit and community engagement during the holiday season.

The voting period is open now through Friday, September 4, with participants allowed to cast one vote per day for Boerne. The contest, which celebrates towns that embody the magic of Christmas, has put a spotlight on Boerne's unique holiday offerings, including its historic Hill Country Mile, which transforms into a winter wonderland during the season.

Boerne's holiday traditions are deeply rooted in community involvement. Mayor Frank Ritchie emphasized the importance of this sense of community, stating, "At the center of the celebration are the people who are part of our wonderful community. That sense of community is what has helped Boerne build a reputation as a Texas Hill Country destination throughout the holiday season."

One of Boerne's signature events is Dickens on Main, which takes place during Thanksgiving weekend. The event brings the Hill Country Mile to life with Victorian-inspired characters, live entertainment, and holiday activities, attracting visitors from across the region. Tori Bellos, Visit Boerne Marketing Specialist, noted, "What makes Christmas in Boerne so special is that it's truly a community effort. Our role is to help visitors discover everything that makes Boerne unique while making sure our local businesses have the information and resources they need to welcome them."

The holiday celebrations continue with Weihnachts Weekend, featuring the annual nighttime Weihnachts Parade and Kinder Fest, along with holiday markets, shopping events, and other festivities throughout December. These events are a testament to the collaborative spirit of Boerne's residents, businesses, and organizations.

Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Kim Blohm highlighted the community's role in creating a memorable Christmas experience: "It is no mystery, a key component of the community's Christmas celebration is the local businesses, volunteers, organizations and residents who help bring the season to life each year. Our small business owners welcome visitors, neighbors share longtime traditions and families gather along the Hill Country Mile to create the kind of personal, small-town Christmas experience that has become synonymous with Boerne."

Boerne's approach to Christmas is not about being the biggest or most extravagant destination. Instead, the city focuses on what makes it special year-round: its historic Hill Country Mile, locally owned businesses, scenic Texas Hill Country setting, and a welcoming atmosphere that makes visitors feel like part of the community. This authenticity is likely why Boerne has captured the attention of the Hallmark Channel and why it stands out as a finalist in this national contest.

If Boerne wins, it would receive national recognition and a feature on the Hallmark Channel, potentially boosting tourism and economic impact for the city. Residents and supporters are encouraged to vote daily to help Boerne claim the title of Merriest Christmas Town.
