Bestselling author Elizabeth Graham, an authority on the Trump-Putin relationship, has issued a stark warning that the United States is succumbing to tyranny under a leader she labels a traitor. In a recent Substack post, Graham, who spent nearly two decades in Russia, Central Asia, and Ukraine, draws on historical parallels and personal experience to argue that Donald Trump is controlled by Russian President Vladimir Putin and is systematically dismantling democratic institutions.
Graham cites the Roman orator Cicero, who warned that 'a nation cannot survive treason from within.' She contends that Trump's actions, including the removal of U.S. troops from Germany, efforts to negate NATO, and the closure of USAID, align with Putin's interests and weaken the United States. According to Graham, Russia's disinformation campaign has persuaded many Americans to doubt Trump's treason, despite evidence of his business dealings with Russian oligarchs and his legal troubles, including 34 felony counts and a sexual assault ruling.
Graham's book, 'From Democracy To Democrazy: A Warning To All Americans,' has received praise from Kirkus Reviews as 'an intriguing and informative must-read.' She claims that Trump's net worth increased by $2 billion in the past year, partly through money laundering via Russian organized crime, as reported by Vanity Fair and Business Insider. She also points to the closure of USAID, which she says was a key intelligence source, and predicts millions of preventable deaths in Africa as a result.
Graham's analysis is based on her 20 years of work on USAID projects and her personal tragedy: her daughter's death in Japan, ruled a homicide by poison, a method she attributes to Russian intelligence. She warns that Trump may attempt to extend his rule beyond 2028, similar to Putin's prolonged presidency. Her full post is available on her Substack at egraham.substack.com.
