Anytime Fitness Hits 600 Clubs in Asia, Launches Battle of the Purple Champions in Malaysia

Anytime Fitness has reached a significant milestone with the opening of its 600th club in Asia, coinciding with the Malaysia debut of its regional fitness challenge, Battle of the Purple Champions (BOPC). The launch, announced on July 31, 2026, underscores the brand's commitment to making fitness accessible, inclusive, and community-focused across the region.

BOPC, which has already seen successful editions in the Philippines and Singapore, is designed around functional movements that mirror everyday life—such as carrying heavy groceries or climbing stairs without fatigue. The challenge is open to both members and non-members, aiming to be inclusive so that anyone from beginners to seasoned athletes can compete for the Champion title.

Ryan Cheal, Group Chief Operating Officer of Inspire Brands Asia, emphasized that community is a key motivator for long-term fitness engagement. "Reaching our 600th club milestone in Asia is proof that this community-first model works," he said. "For us, expansion isn't just about adding locations; it's about creating inclusive, accessible spaces across Malaysia and the region where anyone—regardless of fitness level—feels empowered to build healthier habits for life."

Cheal also highlighted that BOPC differs from traditional competitions by focusing on real-life functional fitness rather than peak athletic performance. "Fitness shouldn't be an intimidating solo pursuit or about being the strongest person in the room—it's about building a supportive community that keeps you accountable for the long haul," he added.

The brand's expansion into East Malaysia, starting with Kuching, further solidifies its commitment to providing quality fitness options across the country, from Peninsular Malaysia to Borneo. This move aligns with Anytime Fitness's mission to make fitness accessible to all Malaysians, regardless of age or fitness level.

Malaysia's inaugural BOPC is scheduled for October and will bring together teams from across the country to celebrate movement for real-life situations, teamwork, and community. The initiative is part of Inspire Brands Asia's broader vision to redefine fitness as an accessible, lifelong journey rather than a destination, while strengthening the role of communities in helping people lead healthier, happier lives.
