Andina Copper Corporation (TSX-V: ANDC | FSE: FIR | OTCQB: PMMCF) announced results from drillhole CDH009 at its Cobrasco Project in Choco, Colombia, confirming a significant northwesterly extension of shallow, high-grade copper-molybdenum mineralization. The drillhole returned 502m at 0.40% copper, 73ppm molybdenum, and 1.22g/t silver from 38m downhole, including higher-grade intervals such as 186m at 0.50% copper. These results expand the drill-defined mineralized footprint to approximately 1,200m by 550m, with the system remaining open in all directions.
CDH009 was drilled from the same pad as previous holes (CDH006–CDH008) to a depth of 954m, targeting the northwestern extension of the Cobrasco Central system. The hole intersected mineralization starting just below the oxidized cap at 38m, with grades increasing notably in the upper 300m. Mineralization persists to the end of the hole, where copper grades decrease as sericite alteration transitions to a lower-grade potassic-altered domain. Two additional step-out holes, CDH010 and CDH011, have been completed from the same pad, with assays pending, and a new platform 350m northwest is being used for wide-spaced scout drilling to assess the system's overall scale.
President and CEO Joseph van den Elsen emphasized the systematic approach: “Andina Copper continues to systematically advance its scout drilling programme in a northwesterly direction with wide spaced fans of holes aimed at expanding the envelope of porphyry Cu-Mo mineralization. The results of hole CDH009 validate this approach, significantly extending shallow, near-surface copper-molybdenum mineralization 350m to the northwest.” He added that all nine holes reported to date have returned wide intervals of high-grade, near-surface mineralization, and mobilization of a second diamond drill rig will expedite exploration and testing of new porphyry centers.
The company’s strategy focuses on step-out drilling to expand the known mineralized envelope, with CDH009 bisecting a wide untested area between CDH006 and CDH008. Detailed geological logging indicates that high-grade copper mineralization is associated with intense white to green sericite alteration, with chalcopyrite and bornite present as disseminations and veinlets. The company’s corporate presentation is available at Andina Copper Corporate Presentation.
These results underscore the growing scale potential of the Cobrasco system, which is located along the Andean porphyry belt. The company also holds additional discoveries in Argentina and Chile. For further updates, interested parties can subscribe to the mailing list at Mailing List.
