The 36th Hong Kong Book Fair, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place from July 15 to 21, 2026, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Running concurrently with the Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and the World of Snacks, the three fairs are expected to gather over 770 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions, offering a comprehensive summer experience in culture, sports, and leisure.
This year's theme, 'Cultural Legacy | Joyful Journeys,' aims to inspire readers to explore cultural heritage and innovation through reading and travel. Jenny Koo, HKTDC Deputy Executive Director, stated that the theme encourages the public to immerse themselves in cultural and eco-tourism, broadening horizons and stimulating the mind. The Book Fair will feature over 600 cultural events both at the fairground and across the city.
Highlights include the 'World of Art & Culture' zone, which will host the 'World in Words, A Voyage of the Heart' exhibition, divided into four zones using 'Local Eye' and 'Global Eye' perspectives to connect Hong Kong stories with world literature. The exhibition will include interactive setups recommending books and itineraries based on preferences, and will display over 200 books and items from around the world.
Eight seminar series will feature renowned writers from around the globe. The Renowned Writers Seminar Series, co-organized with Ming Pao and Yazhou Zhoukan, will include Liu Zhenyun, Su Tong, Bi Feiyu, Liu Jiakun, and Louis Yu. The English and International Books Seminar Series welcomes British poet and novelist Luke Kennard, and Joe Ngai, JP, Greater China Chairman of McKinsey & Company, who will discuss the global economic landscape. For the first time, the ASEAN Literary Festival will be introduced under this series, featuring authors Eka Kurniawan and Clarissa Goenawan.
The Book Fair also includes the 'International Publishing Forum' and 'IP Roundtable' for industry professionals. The Cultural and Creative Space returns with pavilions from Fujian, Hangzhou, and Hong Kong exhibitors. Chinese Mainland Publishers will feature 49 organizations from Yunnan province, showcasing approximately 20,000 publications. The Hong Kong Jockey Club will set up a themed exhibition area promoting healthy lifestyles.

The Hong Kong Chinese Importers’ & Exporters’ Association and the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers will organize 'Fun Reading Day' for grassroots students. Sun Hung Kai Properties' 'Read to Dream' initiative will invite students from grassroots families to participate.
