24th Sichuan Guangwu Mountain International Red Leaf Festival Showcases Asia's Spectacular Autumn Colors

The 24th Sichuan Guangwu Mountain International Red Leaf Festival is set to run from October 1 to November 18 at the Guangwu Mountain Tourism Area in Bazhong, Sichuan Province, China. The annual event celebrates one of Asia's most spectacular autumn displays, drawing travelers, photographers, and nature enthusiasts from around the world. With forest coverage of 97%, Guangwu Mountain is often called a "natural oxygen bar," and each autumn, 680 square kilometers of mountain forests transform into a vibrant tapestry of red, gold, and orange. Over 40 tree species, including Fagus pashanica, maples, and lindens, contribute to what is known as "Asia's longest natural red carpet."

The festival's significance extends beyond its visual appeal. It underscores the growing appeal of immersive, slow-paced travel experiences in western China, catering to international visitors seeking off-the-beaten-path adventures. The tourism area has invested in new attractions to enhance visitor experiences. The Yanziling Loop Boardwalk, launched in May 2026, winds along mountain cliffs, offering panoramic views of rolling clouds and brilliant foliage. Thrill-seekers can enjoy the 1,888-meter Red Leaf Coaster and a glass water slide certified by Guinness World Record, blending adrenaline with natural beauty.

Cultural and nighttime entertainment also plays a key role. The large-scale immersive production "New Dream of Guangwu Mountain" combines cutting-edge light and visual technology with Bashan folklore, creating an atmospheric evening experience. Welcome performances and interactive robot activities further enrich the visitor experience, showcasing the mountain's late-autumn charm.

A major highlight of this year's festival is the newly completed Micang Avenue. Stretching 85 kilometers, this route connects seven core scenic spots, including Guangwu Mountain, Micang Mountain, and Nuoshui River, reducing a four-hour drive to just one hour. Lined with continuous stretches of colorful forest and layered peaks, the avenue revolutionizes travel for autumn foliage enthusiasts, making it easier to explore the region's diverse landscapes.

The festival also features a range of cultural, sports, and international exchange activities. These include the third season of the "Sending You a Red Leaf" campaign, the China Micang Avenue International Road Cycling Race, and the "World Red Leaf Landmark" global collection campaign. Additionally, 31 scenic attractions and 18 museums and cultural venues across Bazhong will offer special ticket deals and visitor benefits during the festival period.
