As the leaves begin their annual transformation, Pasadena offers a cultural feast that promises to engage and inspire. This week, the city becomes a canvas of creativity, with events that celebrate art, music, and community spirit. Whether you're an art aficionado, a music lover, or someone looking to connect with the community, Pasadena has something special in store for you.
Start your cultural journey with the evocative exhibition Laura Aguilar: Day of the Dead at The Huntington. Running through March 1, 2027, this exhibition showcases Aguilar's poignant photographs capturing Día de los Muertos celebrations in Los Angeles from 1984 to 1992. These images not only celebrate Mexican American culture but also reflect Aguilar's unique perspective as a Chicana, queer artist.
Music enthusiasts are in for a treat as the legendary Erykah Badu takes the stage at the Hollywood Bowl on September 29. Known for her soulful voice and eclectic style, Badu promises an unforgettable night with her innovative blend of soul, funk, and hip-hop. The event, titled 'emajendat,' features a vibrant, immersive world of music, art, and community-centric activations.
For those seeking a theatrical experience, the opening night of The Outsiders on September 30 at a Los Angeles theatre is a must-see. Adapted from S.E. Hinton's novel, this Tony Award-winning musical brings to life the story of Ponyboy Curtis and his Greaser family, offering a dynamic score and a powerful narrative of friendship and belonging.
Families can enjoy a whimsical evening at Carved at Descanso Gardens starting October 2. This family-friendly event transforms the gardens into a glowing autumn adventure with thousands of hand-carved pumpkins and enchanting displays, perfect for an evening stroll.
Finally, don't miss the Los Angeles Chocolate Salon on October 4 at the Pasadena Convention Center. Indulge in artisan chocolates, meet master chocolatiers, and enjoy tastings and demonstrations that celebrate the art of chocolate making.
